Crooked House

So one of our patients is a retired professor who still has his office at UCSD. He took my coworkers and I to the campus this past week to check out some new artwork that happens to be on top of the building where his office is located. I will let you decide whether or not it is art, but here at least are the pics I took on our field trip:

When you walk into the house you can immediately tell that you are walking on a crooked floor but otherwise it doesn't seem that crooked. Notice the chandelier.....it is hanging from the ceiling, so it's vertical and you can tell how crooked everything else is compared to that. If you are interested in learning more about it, you can read the story here: http://stuartcollection.ucsd.edu/artists/suh.shtml  Enjoy!

Cousin Brian's Visit

When family members live about 8 states away, it's easy to lose touch. This weekend my cousin Brian was in San Diego for work and was lucky enough to have Saturday afternoon off, so Aunt Carol and I played tour guide to him and his supervisor. It had been 8 years since we last saw him!

He definitely takes after his Dad - after being on the phone for about 20 seconds with him (trying to schedule a time to meet up) he had already started in on the jabs and good-natured ribbing that definitely goes with the Miklavic family. Ahhh...yes...funny how that makes it seem as if no time has passed at all since our last visit with him!

We had a great time taking him around to the different sites in SD - too bad the weather didn't cooperate. Here we are at Cabrillo National Monument.
Then we headed to Coronado and walked around the Hotel del...enjoyed the shops and made a game of guessing the prices of all the outrageously expensive items. We also enjoyed some ice cream and people watching...I think we saw about 5 weddings going on!

Before heading home, Brian and his supervisor decided they needed to test the water temperature of the Pacific...

Apparently it was a bit COLD!! Bwahahaha!! (Notice Carol and I are not near the water...) Loved having you here for a visit Brian!! Hope to see you again before another 8 years passes! XOXO
